Glencoe sewer leaks pollutes stream

A sewer leak adjacent to the Glencoe industrial area, near the sports stadium, has seen effluent run into a nearby stream.
The Umzinyathi District Municipality was called in to repair the leak but businessman, Fanie Terre’blanche, said the work they did resulted in opening up a channel that saw more pollution run into the river.
He said the leak was first reported three weeks ago.
Workmen are still on site and the hope is that the leak will be sorted out as soon as possible. It is not yet clear if the Department of Water Affairs has been contacted.
