Endumeni Municipality warns of ‘cash-for-jobs’ scam doing the rounds

“We plead with community members NOT to pay any money for any kind of a job. We would also like to urge the community to be extra vigilant when seeking employment. "

Endumeni Municipality has warned against a cash-for-jobs scam that has already seen residents swindled out of money.
“We have received multiple complaints from community members who claim to be victimized by these scammers. The most recent case was this morning.
“A man posing as “Mr Mhlungu” has been requesting that they deposit R2000-R3000 into his bank account (for a job at the municipality). When contacted on his number (073 651 1304) he was very arrogant and said he would continue with his fraudulent activities using another staff member’s identity because he needs the money,” the municipality said in a statement.
“We plead with community members NOT to pay any money for any kind of a job.
“Endumeni Municipality does not sell jobs. Genuine employment opportunities within Endumeni Council are advertised openly and transparently and all candidates are encouraged to apply through proper channels without any financial obligations.”
