Endumeni Mayor’s visit boosts Sentraal to victory over favourites
Sentraal’s next home game is on July 13 against the Newcastle Bears.

Perhaps Endumeni Mayor, Siyabonga Ndlovu, should consider attending more Sentraal rugby matches.
The town’s first citizen was a surprise guest at the Glencoe Sports Ground last Saturday when the home team took on the formidable Piet Retief champions.
After shaking hands and posing with a photo with both teams, the Mayor announced that ‘my Sentraal will win today – I am confident’.
Many supporters in the stands were not as sure as Piet Retief who defeated Sentraal on home soil in last year’s league final are no pushovers.
Yet the boys in blue and red started ferociously, and S Zulu dotted down within the first 10 minutes.
Piet Retief, as expected hit back, and made constant raids on the Sentraal try line which was bravely defended. Piet Retief did score a try that was also converted and it was definitely game-on.
Using their pace and guile, Sentraal scored two more tries through captain JP Roets and captain, Xander Kriel. The teams went into the break with Sentraal 17-7 up.
The second half was a tense affair which saw Sentraal again defend their lives although Piet Retief did manage to score another converted try. There was tension in the stands as time ran out but an excellent try by Sentraal’s S Mofokeng ensured a famous 22-14 victory and a huge smile from Mayor Ndlovu and Sentraal’s coaches and fans.
Captain, Xander Kriel, said he was proud of his charges who came into the game as definite underdogs.
Some of the Piet Retief supporters who had taken a drive to support their team said they were ‘shocked to see a Mayor at a rugby game as this never happens by us.’
