Glencoe residents in Sithembile thankful for tank donations to ease their water crisis

The community commented that they are thankful for the donation that will go a long way towards easing their plight of not having access to water.

Sithembile, like many other areas in Endumeni, often goes weeks without running water due to poor infrastructure and lack of capacity.
Realising the plight of the residents, Ward 3 Councillor Mbulelo Phakathi accessed six JoJo tanks, each with a capacity of over 5000 litres.
The tanks will be placed in the worst affected areas to give residents access to water.
Umzinyathi District Municipality allocated R40,000 towards the JoJo tanks, with money also coming from the Ward 3 budget allocation.
“I urged the council to assist, as people were suffering and many were forced to walk long distances to fetch water; we never know when the water will return,” Cllr Phakathi said.
