Dundee outride saddles up to assist local SPCA
The event was hosted by Kirsten Gordon and Natalie Kruger who runs The Mane Trail.
Dundee’s first liberty horse demonstration and outside was held to raise funds for the local SPCA last month.
Kirsten completed a liberty show with her three horses, Silver, Cavalier, and Firefly.
She has been passionate about horsemanship from a young age and has since spent time in the USA learning more about horse training. Kirsten desires to start performances locally and around SA. She also aims to improve on her reining.
“Liberty is a form of equestrian art that takes skill, dedication, and passion to master.
It is also the state of being free from restrictions where true connection is challenged,” Kirsten explained.

Natalie Kruger was responsible for the organisation of the event and a participant in the outride has been working to improve the quality of the lives of the horses in Dundee by supplying proper quality tack at reasonable prices. The oldest and dearest rider was Glyniss Green who is 80 years old, and still rides.
She was born in South Africa and got her first horse at the age of 12 and hasn’t been without a horse since. She was also a dairy farmer and has competed in jumping, dressage, gymkhana, endurance, and polocross while enjoying outrides with the group.
She hopes to still carry on riding, even if it only means only walking!
Kirsten thanked all those who assisted with the photography, the spectators and participants, who supported the Dundee SPCA.
“ We look forward to more planned outrides and liberty performances in the future to raise funds for charity organizations.”
