Truck hits Dundee substation

Power has been knocked out in several areas of Dundee.

Several areas of Dundee will be without power after a truck damaged a substation this morning.

The water tanker hit the substation on Oldacre Street near the intersection with Victoria Street.

It appears as if the truck driver pulled over to change a tyre after the vehicle suffered a puncture in a tyre. The truck rolled onto the pavement and into the substation while he was attempting to change the tyre.

Traffic officials are on the scene along with municipal electricians. No one was reported injured and the circumstances regarding the crash will be investigated.

A wide swathe of the area will be without power including the Mpati area to the lower end of Peacevale and surrounds. Hopes are that power will be restored this afternoon but outlying areas later than that.
