Illegal immigrants nabbed and drugs seized in Dundee

A combined police operation swept through Dundee in a bid to stamp out crime.

Three illegal immigrants were arrested in a multi-disciplinary high-density operation that included the police, private security, the Traffic Department and Department of Home Affairs immigration officials.
The operation saw roadblocks set up outside Dundee and Glencoe last Saturday, with patrols beefed up in the central business district, townships and other areas.

Illegal shebeens were raided and searches for illicit goods were conducted.
Checks were also done to ensure businesses’ compliance with regulations.
“The operation was successful.
“One person was arrested for drunken driving.
“Three illegal immigrants were arrested.
“Four suspects were arrested for possession of drugs, two illegal shebeens were closed and eight road users were given tickets for road traffic offences,” commented SAPS spokesperson Constable Siyabonga Nkwanyana.
