Man accused of double murder to appear in Nquthu court

A 31-year-old man faces charges related to a shooting on the Babanango/Nquthu road dating back to 2023.

The KZN Provincial SAPS Task Team have arrested a 31-year-old man in connection with two counts of murder and two of attempted murder. He is expected to appear in the Nquthu Magistrate’s Court today (October 13).

The charges relate to a shooting incident on November 13 2023, when four men travelling in a white vehicle from Ntinini in Babanango were allegedly attacked near Mpukunyoni. “It is believed the suspect, who was known to the victims, opened fire as the vehicle came to a stop,” SAPS spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Paul Magwaza told the Courier.

The driver reportedly lost control and the vehicle veered off the road. Two of the occupants managed to escape, while the other two were fatally wounded.

Police investigations continue.
