A man was stabbed in the back and robbed late Thursday afternoon after being attacked by three men in an alleyway in Dundee’s central business district.

Victim sought help at nearby shop after attack

Despite his injuries, the victim managed to make his way to a nearby shop, where the owner assisted him and raised the alarm.

The shop owner, who asked not to be named, said he knew the victim, who earns a living by doing odd jobs around town, including washing cars.

“He was set upon by about three men who kicked and stabbed him,” the shopkeeper said.

Members of the South African Police Service responded to the scene, and the injured man was transported to the hospital for medical treatment.

Police are investigating cases of robbery and grievous bodily harm.
