Men arrested with unlicensed firearms and ammunition

The serial number on both firearms had been filed off

Two suspects aged 22 and 63 were recently arrested in the Egombe and Nkanyezi areas of Colenso after they were found with unlicensed firearms.

Police swooped on the first suspect and arrested him with a hunting rifle and six rounds of ammunition. The rifle’s serial number had been removed.

The second suspect was found in possession of a 9mm pistol and 22 rounds of ammunition. The handgun also had its serial number filed off.

Both suspects have appeared in the Colenso Magistrate’s Court, facing charges of being in possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.

The recovered firearms will be sent for ballistic testing to ascertain if they have been used in any crimes.
