Suspected robbers behind bars

The suspects have appeared in the Ladysmith Magistrate's Court

Officers from Ladysmith Visible Policing, the K9 Unit and Ladysmith Detective Tracing Team arrested four suspects recently.

The men, aged between 23 and 31, allegedly committed a business robbery in the Ladysmith CBD, using a firearm to threaten employees. They are said to have stolen cash and alcohol.

Officers traced the men to the Roosboom area, where they were apprehended.

Further investigation led to the recovery of a 9mm pistol with six rounds of ammunition, a bottle of alcohol, as well as a small amount of cash that is suspected to have been taken during the robbery.

A vehicle alleged to have been used during the crime was impounded by police.

The suspects have since appeared in court, facing charges of business robbery and possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. The recovered firearm will be sent for ballistic testing and detectives are confident that they will link the suspects to other cases as well.
