Three dead in horrific N11 collision
Three of the vehicles occupants were declared dead at the scene while three more sustained serious injuries.
Three people died when the vehicle they were travelling in landed under a truck on the N11 at the Ingagane turn-off yesterday morning (December 3).
Lizzy Arumugam, of the Newcastle SAPS Corporate Communications Department, said Newcastle Detectives are investigating a case of culpable homicide.
“It is alleged that the driver of the Chevrolet with six occupants skipped the stop street at the intersection of the Ingagane turn off. The Chevrolet hit the tyre of the truck trailer and ended up under the truck.
It’s believed three occupants were declared dead at the scene. The other three passengers were treated at the scene for serious injuries before being transferred to Madadeni Provincial Hospital for further intensive medical care.
It is still unclear at this stage what exactly transpired and further police investigations will continue.
The Newcastle Advertiser wishes to extend its heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
