Two suspects arrested for theft out of vehicle and possession of unlicenced firearm
Law enforcement gathered information which quickly led to the arrest of one suspect at his safe house shortly after the theft occurred.
A combined operation involving SAPS and private security resulted in two suspects being arrested for theft out of a vehicle and possession of an unlicenced firearm.
Imran Ghafoor, of the Newcastle Crime Fighter Task Team, who assisted in the arrest said two men had stolen a firearm from the victim’s car on November 25.
An investigation was immediately launched by the Newcastle Stabilised Tracing Team (W/O P. Singh and Sgt. Birbal), Newcastle Crime Fighter Task (Imran, Asif, Yusuf, and Aashiq), and Winzy Bee Security (Marius), which led law enforcement to a safe house where one suspect was apprehended.
It was then discovered that he had already sold the firearm, leading them to the arrest of a second suspect for being in possession of an unlicenced firearm.
Ghafoor wished to thank everyone involved for the successful arrests.
