Local law enforcement apprehend several suspects for drug dealing and robbery

Three of the suspects were detained after they were caught allegedly dealing in mandrax tablets and whoonga in the Newcastle CBD area.

Local law enforcement including SAPS, Newcastle Crime Fighters Task Team, Newcastle Stabilised Unit and the Amajuba Drug Unit assisted in the arrest of six criminals this past week.

Imran Ghafoor of the Newcastle Crime Fighters Task Team said information was received about a person suspected of drug dealing.

“The suspect was monitored, but he unfortunately realised he was being watched and fled which resulted in him being chased by officers,” he said.

The suspect was eventually caught and found in possession of crystal meth and heroin.

A second suspect was detained on a drug-related charge after officials were informed that he was dealing drugs near a local school.

The suspect was caught having mandrax tablets.

Three more suspects were detained after they were caught allegedly dealing in mandrax tablets and whoonga in the Newcastle CBD area.

The sixth suspect was apprehended after law enforcement was informed that he was being chased by members of the community after he allegedly robbed a young man.

Ghafoor thanked all the involved units for their hard work and dedication, which resulted in six successful arrests.
