Ladysmith unit solves 18-year-old vehicle theft case

Colt bakkie recovery proves unit's commitment to long-term cases.

In a remarkable breakthrough, officers from the Ladysmith Vehicle Crime Investigation Unit recovered a stolen Colt bakkie during a random stop in Ezakheni.

According to police spokesperson Warrant Officer Basheer Khan, the vehicle had been missing since February 2007 and had its identification numbers tampered with.

Khan added that a 41-year-old driver was arrested and charged with possession of stolen property. The accused appeared in the Ezakheni Magistrate’s Court, highlighting the Ladysmith Vehicle Crime Investigation Unit’s dedication to solving vehicle crimes, even 18 years after they happen!
