Vryheid High School enjoyed another busy and successful week, with learners excelling in academics, sport and community service while parents and staff continued to play an important role in the life of the school.

Outstanding Eisteddfod achievements

Our debate and public speaking learners represented the school with distinction at the National Eisteddfod, achieving excellent results.

Public Speaking:
• Two Diplomas (the highest award);
• Four Gold Awards.

Debate:
• One Silver Award.

We congratulate all our participants on these outstanding achievements. Your hard work, dedication and confidence have made the school incredibly proud.

Successful Grade 9 Information Evening

On Tuesday evening, Vryheid High hosted its annual Grade 9 Information Evening. The event was well attended and we would like to extend our sincere appreciation to all the parents who took the time to join us.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership in your child’s education. Your involvement plays an important role in helping our learners make informed subject choices for the future.

Cricket results

Our boys’ cricket teams faced Hoërskool Pionier last Wednesday in two competitive fixtures.

Results:
• U/15: lost by seven wickets;
• First XI: lost by five wickets.

Although the results did not go our way, both teams displayed determination and sportsmanship throughout their matches.

Our girls’ cricket team travelled to Pongola on Thursday to take on Pongola Akademie. While the team unfortunately suffered a defeat, the match provided valuable experience and opportunities for growth as they continue to develop throughout the season.

Soccer results vs Hope High School

Our soccer teams were in action against Hope High School on Thursday.

Results:
• First girls: Vryheid High 5-3 Hope High;
• U/15 boys: Vryheid High 0-1 Hope High;
• Second boys: Vryheid High 0-2 Hope High;
• First boys: Vryheid High 0-2 Hope High.

Congratulations to our first girls on an excellent victory, and well done to all our teams for their commitment and effort on the field.

Blood Drive makes life-saving impact

Thursday also saw another highly successful Blood Drive at Vryheid High School, with learners and staff once again demonstrating their commitment to serving the community.

Term 3 Blood Drive results:
• Donors: 164;
• Units collected: 130;
• Lives saved: 390.

We are especially proud to announce that Vryheid High School is currently the Best Performing School in the blood donation programme.

A heartfelt thank you goes to every learner, staff member and donor who contributed to this incredible achievement. Your willingness to give the gift of life is making a real difference in our community.
