A man was shot and killed in Alfred Street on Monday (October 13). The victim, believed to be a street dweller, was found lying at the side of the road.

Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Basheer Khan confirmed the incident and commented that, “On Monday morning, a deceased male was discovered in Alfred Street, Estcourt. He had sustained a gunshot wound to the face. At this stage, the motive for the shooting is unknown.”

As of yesterday (October 14), no arrests had been made and the deceased had not yet been formally identified.

Police say that investigations will continue.
