Three suspects were arrested following an armed robbery at a Newcastle CBD business on Friday, 13 December.

According to Imran Ghafoor of the Newcastle Crime Fighters Task Team (CCPA), the suspects entered the premises around 3.30pm, brandishing knives, and stole property before fleeing the scene.

Police apprehended all three suspects shortly afterward.

“The robbery was reported shortly after it occurred, prompting a swift response from multiple law enforcement and security units,” he said.

These included the Newcastle Crime Fighter Task Team (CCPA), Ithemba Security, the Newcastle K9 Unit (D and C Shift), and the Newcastle Crime Room.

Through coordinated teamwork and swift information gathering, officers were able to track down and arrest all three suspects.

Two of the suspects were detained in accordance with Newcastle SAP14 procedures on charges of business robbery.

Stolen property was also successfully recovered and returned to the business owner.

Ghafoor praised all units involved for their excellent teamwork and commitment to combating crime in the Newcastle area.
