Municipal official accused of rape gets R1000 bail

He will appear in court again on March 23.

A senior municipal official (46) who has been accused of rape was granted bail in the Ladysmith Magistrate’s Court on Friday (February 20).

The 46-year-old handed himself over to police last Monday (February 16) after being accused of raping a 28-year-old intern at the municipality.

Appearing in court on Friday, he was granted R1000 bail and will re-appear on Monday, March 23.

Due to him not pleading during the bail application, we cannot disclose his identity at this time.
