4 shot dead in ambush near Ezakheni Plaza on Easter Monday
Hundreds of people flocked to the scene of the shooting to see what was going on.
A shooting took place near the Ezakheni Plaza on Monday afternoon (April 7), leaving four men dead.
They were travelling in a vehicle when it is believed that gunmen along the road opened fire on the vehicle as it passed them, according to a police source who is not authorised to speak to the media.
The driver lost control, veering off the road into nearby veld. The victims are believed to have been found either inside the car or lying nearby.
The gunmen continued to fire, riddling the car with bullets and killing the occupants before fleeing the scene.
When a Ladysmith Gazette reporter arrived at the scene, a large group of people had gathered.
The motive for the shooting and the circumstances leading up to the attack remain unclear.
