Woman arrested for suspected stolen copper in Van Reenen

A 41-year-old woman was arrested in the Van Reenen area during a recent police operation after being found in possession of copper suspected to have been stolen.
Police operation leads to arrest
Officers conducting a swoop in the area discovered the woman with the metal, leading to her immediate arrest. Authorities believe the copper may be linked to infrastructure theft.
The recovered copper has an estimated value of around R2000, according to police reports.
Court appearance and ongoing investigation
The suspect has since appeared in the Ladysmith Magistrate’s Court. Investigations are ongoing to determine the origin of the copper and whether it is connected to broader theft networks.
