Guards involved in deadly Oval beating granted bail

The two security guards were granted R1000 bail each.

Two men appeared in the Ladysmith Magistrate’s Court today (April 29), where they were granted bail of R1000 each in the murder case of 38-year-old James Lesley Isaac from Limit Hill.

Deadly assault at shopping centre

The accused, who are allegedly security guards at the Oval Shopping Centre, were arrested after a deadly assault on April 17. According to police, Isaac had allegedly attempted to steal items from a store before being confronted by the guards. The situation quickly escalated.

Security guard reportedly stabbed

Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Basheer Khan said that during the incident, one of the security officers was allegedly stabbed by Isaac. 

Fatal outcome under investigation

The incident escalated, ending in Isaac’s death.

The case has been postponed to May 27 for further investigation.
