Crisis group fights Endumeni’s water woes

Cllr Mohammed told residents that he has given the district municipality seven days to get back to him with answers about the water crisis.

With the area’s water woes worsening, members of the Water Crisis group, as well as the community at large, met on Thursday outside the Sentraal rugby field for a public meeting.
Dundee and Glencoe residents hoped that Umzinyathi District Municipality (UDM) management would be present to give them answers, but this was not to be.
None of Umzinyathi’s management employees were at the meeting, much to consumers’ consternation.
This after Cllr Abdool Mohammed personally sent a letter to the mayor’s personal assistant, Miss Mbatha, last week.
People were clearly outraged and saw this as a sign that UDM does not care about them.
“We have been calling the municipality for weeks on end and even Cllr Mohammed went to their offices to get answers, but it’s clear that Mayor Ngubane does not care about our water crisis,” said a resident who wished to remain anonymous.
Issues regarding the non-operational billing system were raised and a petition concerning the water crisis was signed at the meeting.
