Security guards hold water plant hostage

The guards have evidently not been paid their salaries for 3 months

This morning (March 8), areas such as Rose Park, Chisty Place, Hillside and Acaciavale are experiencing low water pressure or no water at all.

According to DA Councillor Thys Janse van Rensburg, the security guards at the Ezakheni Water Treatment Plant have not received their salaries for the past three months, so they are holding the plant hostage. This is the reason for the ‘dry taps’.

Residents are advised to store water in containers, if possible.
