ECRA pleased about breakthrough meeting with the municipality

It was agreed to arrange for the rescheduling of the next meeting within 30 days, with official notices being sent out.

‘Fruitful and positive’ were the words used to describe a breakthrough meeting between the Endumeni Civic Residents Association (ECRA) and municipal officials.
The meeting was called to ‘iron out’ issues regarding the recent road-shows hosted by Mayor Ndlovu, where the proposed 2023/24 draft budget was unveiled.
The meeting was attended by Mzwakhe Sithebe and FC Bester, representing the ECRA (and other members), as well as Endumeni Municipal Manager Sthembiso Ntombela.
Sithebe said he was enthused by the warm welcome he and his colleagues received.
“Our intention is to engage positively to ensure that the community’s needs regarding the budget and integrated development plan (IDP) are attended to.
“Unfortunately, not all stakeholders could be at this first meeting and we all agreed that it would be improper to continue with only the municipal manager present.”
While discussions were underway, Mayor Ndlovu also arrived and he too insisted that discussions regarding the draft budget should include other councillors and officials.
It was agreed to arrange for the rescheduling of the next meeting within 30 days, with official notices being sent out.
Also under discussion will be the long-running issue of the wrongful issuing of RDP homes to beneficiaries, which has resulted in several High Court decisions that are yet to be implemented.
