Sarel Cilliers rugby boys enjoy memorable outing to Kings Park

The boys were able to watch the Cell C Sharks play the Toyota Cheetahs at Hollywoodbets Kings Park Stadium and were super-excited to see themselves on the big screen during the match.

The Sarel Cilliers rugby boys had the time of their lives last weekend, leaving on Friday for a weekend in Durban. The boys were able to watch the Cell C Sharks play the Toyota Cheetahs at Hollywoodbets Kings Park Stadium and were super-excited to see themselves on the big screen during the match. For many of the boys, it was their first time in Durban and their first time at a big stadium. Kudos to Mr Dube, the sports master, for giving the boys this amazing opportunity that will never be forgotten.
The boys were then hosted by Amanzimtoti High School and were ready and excited to play rugby on Saturday.
The U/14 team won 10-5 after staging a dramatic comeback; they trailed by five points in the first half. The U/15 team lost 0-19 in a tough match. The U/16 boys stormed the field like Viking warriors with the Sarel Cilliers motto of ‘never surrender’ firmly entrenched in their minds. The game had to be stopped shortly into the second half, at a 63-0 win. The first team, not to be outshone by the younger teams, won with a convincing score of 50-3. ‘Most Outstanding Player’ was Tresor Bwato, who played a superb game of rugby. It was a weekend to remember and the boys really made their school proud. Sarel Cilliers thanks the hosts, coaches and drivers for taking such good care of the teams.
On Wednesday this week, the teams faced Vryheid Landbou and on the weekend, they will be playing John Ross High School. Fixtures for the term are coming to an end, with Derby Day against DHS being the last matches before exams start. Make sure you get a chance to support the players before the season ends.
Today (Thursday) is the Sarel Cilliers Talent Show.
There are over 30 acts on offer, with some very talented learners having honed their considerable skills in the hopes of impressing the judges. It promises to be a fantastic evening, with lots of varied acts and talent on show.
Contact the office for tickets, which are R50. Come and support the learners! You never know – you might be seeing some of the future stars of tomorrow.

Mayor Ngubane (who is absent in the photo) awarded Melusi Masondo a cheque for r5000 for being the top learner in the district. The cheque was received by Mr Soobramoney (the Principal) and Mr and Mrs Masondo.
