Imbumba Foundation gives back to the Sithembile community
Some of the beneficiaries individually contacted him at home and requested assistance, while others were found through his door-to-door campaign in 2021.
About 120 needy Sithembile residents received food hampers thanks to a humanitarian gesture co-ordinated by Ward Councillor Mbuelo Phakathi and Mrs Shandu, and their team, on Thursday, May 4.
According to Cllr Phakathi, the beneficiaries were chosen through public meetings and War Rooms. Some of the beneficiaries individually contacted him at home and requested assistance, while others were found through his door-to-door campaign in 2021. “Numerous people gathered and when I saw the recipients receiving their food hampers, I could see the thankfulness on their faces,” said Phakathi.
He added that this was not a municipal campaign, but that he received sponsorship from private business people to come together to give back to the community of Sithembile.
“It was disheartening to hear rumours that people who benefited were ‘my friends’ and people who are not in need. This is not true, as I made sure that only the needy benefited,” explained Phakathi.
He also saluted the Imbumba Foundation, led by Mr R Mabaso, who made it all possible. “May God grant this foundation more strength to keep assisting those who are destitute and jobless.”
