Concerned motorist follows up on burst pipe

She told the Courier that she reported the matter weeks ago, but was never given a reference number when she made the call.

A burst sewerage pipe at the roadside on the R33 has been ‘stinking up’ the area for months now.
This was reported to Umzinyathi Municipality by local motorist Dudu Nkosi.
She told the Courier that she reported the matter weeks ago, but was never given a reference number when she made the call.
“I took it upon myself to follow up on this burst pipe, with the high risk of cholera these days.
“We don’t know where this stream of raw effluent is going to end up; it might even end up coming out of our taps,” exclaimed Nkosi.
She also contacted Umzinyathi Municipality’s Operations & Maintenance manager German Dlozi to inform him that she was on-site with the Courier.
It was only that afternoon that the burst pipe was closed off.
