Sister churches team up to co-host one of a kind bazaar
The Hervormde Kerk and the Gereformeerde Kerk teamed up to co-host a church bazaar at the Newcastle Show Hall on Saturday, June 3.
This is likely the first time in Newcastle’s history that the two sister churches came together to host such an event, according to event organiser, Petro Schrek.
“Each church took responsibility for organising its own stalls and the funds for those particular stalls were allocated to that church,” said Schrek, who described the bazaar as a joyous and successful event.
The children and younger members of each church arranged performances in modern dance, ballet karate, and more, to entertain patrons at the bazaar.
The churches also invited several entrepreneurs to showcase their unique, handcrafted and homemade ware in a bid to promote and support local business.
