Weekend sewer leak floods the road

Pedestrians get splashed by passing cars, and motorists have to beware of the slippery road

Residents are complaining about a sewage leak at the corner of Harrismith and Malcolm Road.

The leak sprung up over the weekend, resulting in dirty waste water flowing all over the pavement and the roadway, much to the consternation of motorists and pedestrians alike.

The grassy pavement is now muddy as a result, with the water also filling up potholes as it winds its way down Harrismith Road.

“The leak has blocked off the portion where we walk, so now we have to use the road itself. Passing cars drive through the dirty water and splash it up all over us, which is most unpleasant,” said one pedestrian.

On the other hand, motorists have to drive with caution due to the slippery road, with some people saying it’s an accident waiting to happen.
