Officials rush to fix sewer leak ‘contaminating’ sports field

Umzinyathi District Municipality reacted swiftly to complaints of a major sewer leak that had spilt onto Kallies Sports Stadium in Oldacre Street.

Nearby residents in Bulwer and Oldacre streets complained about ‘a stench enveloping their homes as the effluent trickles out of a manhole’.

Umzinyathi municipal officials said they were aware of the ongoing problem and immediately sent a team to repair the leak.
