Municipality celebrates women of excellence
Amajuba District municipality held its inaugural Top Women Awards at the Black Rock Casino on December 3.
The black and gold-themed glitzy awards ceremony is intended to honour the remarkable contributions made by the diligent women in Newcastle’s commercial and various other sectors.
Amajuba District Mayor, Ndabuko Zulu, attended the prestigious event and used the opportunity to recognise the important role that women play in the community.
The first-ever Amajuba District Mayor under the IFP, Mrs. Dube, a former high school principal, was given the distinction of receiving the Mayor’s Lifetime Achievement Award.
During the awarding of the Lifetime Achievement Award, Zulu alluded that women like Mrs. Dube should have official recognition for their contributions to the social and economic advancement of our communities.
The awards event served as the perfect platform within the district, by identifying and rewarding women who have displayed exceptional values and further recognised the role of young female game changers.
