Municipality supports those living with HIV/Aids

The programme was one of the ways to celebrate World Aids Day. This comes in the wake of the number of HIV/Aids in KZN and in the he Amajuba district.

The message on the day was that having HIV does not automatically mean that one cannot lead a long and healthy life.

The day began with a welcoming speech from Phakhathi, a local nurse, who expressed her gratitude for the help they had gotten from the district and municipality.

The children’s excitement for the day increased when they were showered with gifts, gift vouchers just in time for their Christmas shopping.

Pinky Mabele, speaking on behalf of the municipality, expressed her happiness in seeing everyone present, particularly the parents who were teaching their kids the value of self-care and living freely.

“We intend to celebrate this wonderful day with you and would like to remind you that a person living with AIDS also has a good and long life that they can enjoy” she commented.

“We also want to encourage you as you grow up to behave well, our Amajuba region is leading in terms of pregnancy rates for young children,” she concluded.

Mrs. Khumalo, a parent participant in the event, expressed gratitude for the clinic’s and the council’s assistance. “The support we receive makes this journey possible, even though it is not an easy one, “she exclaimed.
