Two killed as heavy storm hits Bergville
Close to 40 people were injured and taken to hospital for treatment
A heavy hail storm hit the Bergville area this afternoon (January 3), with tragic consequences.
Two people were killed by lightning during the storm. The deceased were allegedly farm workers. Many others were seriously injured and rushed to Emmaus Hospital for treatment.
Okhahlamba Local Municipality Speaker Zamlandela Khumalo has confirmed the incident, saying they are now rushing to the scene. He said the incident happened on a farm.

ER24, KZN EMS, Free State EMS, Emer G Med, Bergville SAPS, Bergville Fire Department, Harrismith Fire Department and other emergency services were on scene.
