Ward councillor helps Gogo celebrate her 100th birthday

Her family was so grateful for the kind gesture

Ward 18 Cllr Sanele Msimanga’s wish was finally fulfilled after working tirelessly to organise a surprise party for elderly citizen Gogo Ntombingezidiye Hlatshwayo.

Gogo’s 100th birthday was on March 31, but unfortunately the preparations were not finished at that time.

The birthday party was instead held on Wednesday, April 10, at her home in Watersmeet.

According to Cllr Msimanga, he was so touched to hear that someone of her age was living in his ward and felt they should ‘do something good’ for her.

“It is a blessing to have someone this old among us. I was so surprised that she is still healthy; she can see and hear clearly. We would like to thank her family for allowing us to share this milestone with her and also thank them for taking good care of her,” said Msimanga.

He also thanked Alfred Duma Local Municipality and the support he received from the local Watersmeet clinic manager, Mr Zulu.
