Housebreaking turns ‘sour’ for robber

A house robbery took place on Monday morning in Smal Street. The suspect was allegedly armed with a knife when he entered the premises. He was shot by an occupant of the residence and fled the scene. The Vryheid K9 Search & Rescue Unit was called and search dog Achil followed the wounded suspect’s trail. K9 officers found the man in an open area towards Paddadam, lying face-down on the ground. An ambulance was called and the suspect was taken to hospital with three gunshot wounds. A case of house robbery and attempted murder has been opened.
