Homecoming celebration for local horse and jockey

AbaQulusi Local Municipality Mayor Khehla Mkhwanazi hosted a homecoming celebration for local horse Mbayi Mbayi and 30-year-old jockey Melusi Gamede on Monday. The horse and jockey were joined by horse owner Mr Gamede.
One will remember that this duo won the Dundee July traditional horse racing event, as well as King Cetshwayo Horse Racing. They also participated in other rural competitions, where they also took the number one spot.
As a token of appreciation, Mayor Mkhwanazi awarded the duo with a certificate, a trophy, a saddle and five 50kg bags of horse feed.
The mayor further emphasised that this is a great milestone, not just for the Gamede family, but for all AbaQulusi and Zululand citizens.
He hinted that AbaQulusi might hold its very first horse racing competition next year. He concluded that they will continue to offer support to the horse racing community, especially in the rural areas.
