Municipality hosts reading, spelling competition

The top 3 will represent Inkosi Langalibalele at district level

Learners battled it out on Thursday and Friday (September 5 and 6) when Inkosi Langalibalele Library Services (under the Community Services Department) hosted a vibrant local reading and spelling competition.

Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality (ILM) said one of the government’s key priorities is education. ILM therefore subscribes to the notion that education is the foundation for human development in all respects.

Learners from various local primary schools took part in the spelling and reading spectacle, with isiZulu being the language used. Thursday was the first day of a two-session competition in which all participants undertook three tasks in their first language (isiZulu).

Congratulations to the top three:

Snokuhle Hadebe – Themba Primary from the Ntabamhlophe Cluster;

Siyabonga Ndlovu – MMathamo Primary School from the Ntabamhlophe Cluster; and

Esihle Dubazane – Nkanyiso Primary School from the Wembezi Cluster.

“They did well and displayed exceptional skills. Let’s make education fashionable,” concluded the municipality.
