Rhino killings continue throughout Zululand District

According to information received, the rhino was shot in the neck

The current rhino poaching crisis began in 2008, with increasing numbers of rhino killed for their horns throughout Africa until 2015. It has decreased since then, but at least one rhino is still killed every day. On October 3, another slaughtered rhino was discovered by a ranger at a game reserve close to Louwsburg. The rhino carcass was dehorned, like all the previous incidents that were reported by the Vryheid Herald. It is alleged that the rhino was last seen alive in September. According to information received, the rhino was shot in the neck before its horn was brutally cut off.
