The South African Weather Service has issued a level 4 warning for severe thunderstorms in the area. 

The warning is valid today (October 22) until about 23:00.

Scattered showers and thundershowers are expected over the western parts of KZN.

Potentially severe thunderstorms are expected over the north-western parts, with damaging winds, excessive lightning and hail.

Motorists are advised to take caution when travelling in low-lying areas.
