Learners caught dodging school

The pupils were asked to leave the area, and the parents were informed

Parents are urged to keep an eye on their children and make sure they enter the school premises when dropping them off. This follows an incident in which a group of learners were caught loitering in Brickhill Road this morning (January 30) when they should’ve been in school.

The youngsters were not in school uniform and it is alleged that they are from different schools. They are said to often ‘bunk’ school, take off their uniforms (put the items into their school bags) and change into civvies.

Police officers, security guards and teachers were called to come and deal with them. According to Brickhill Road residents, the school-dodgers have been coming to the area since last week.

“They have been coming here, changing their uniforms for normal clothes, buying cigarettes and dagga, and sitting here smoking. We are appealing to parents to ensure that their children go to school because if they continue to hang around here, they will end up doing some kind of damage,” said one concerned resident.
