Drugs valued at R750 000 seized in Madadeni

A targeted operation by SAPS members from the Amajuba District resulted in the arrest of a 43-year-old Madadeni man for drug trafficking and possession.

Drugs valued at around R750 000 were seized and a man arrested following a combined SAPS raid in Madadeni on Wednesday, March 5.

Amajuba District Spokesperson Constable N. Langa confirmed that 13,597 mandrax tablets were found in the man’s house and car. Two vehicles valued at around R330 000 were also confiscated.

The operation, dubbed Vala Umgodi, was part of ongoing efforts to combat criminal activities in the area.
Amajuba District spokesperson Constable N. Langa stated that the police acted quickly after receiving reliable information about a person involved in drug distribution.

The man has been charged with both possession and dealing in drugs.

“The arrest follows growing community concern over the rise of drug addiction among the youth in Newcastle,” Constable Langa said.

The suspect was scheduled to appear in the Madadeni Magistrate’s Court on March .
