One person was declared dead and nine others were rushed to hospital with injuries today (March 9) after a bakkie overturned near Colenso.

The driver of a Toyota Hilux bakkie lost control, causing the vehicle to veer off the road at the R103 Pieters intersection.

The bakkie was travelling from Umbulwane towards Pietermaritzburg when the accident happened.

Police, emergency services and towing services responded to the scene.
