Mayor hands over new vehicles to Public Safety, Emergency Services

The municipality aims to have a fully fledged disaster management fleet.

Alfred Duma Local Municipality Mayor Zama Sibisi handed over municipal fleet vehicles to Public Safety and Emergency Services units on Tuesday (March 11). The mayor was accompanied by Ward 15 Councillor X Kubheka at the handover.

This comes after council resolved to have a fully functional disaster fleet and equipment for the municipality.

The fleet includes two single-cab bakkies and a water tanker, which are planned to bring services to the people, especially when it comes to dealing with disasters. The municipality must be able to reach all communities.

“This water tanker will assist communities in cases of emergency since, as the municipality, we have a long-standing water crisis,” said Sibisi.
