4 die in head-on collision

Tragically, the man and woman died on impact.

Tragedy struck on last week Sunday evening when a head-on collision on the R33 between Vryheid and Paulpietersburg claimed the lives of four people.
According to an eyewitness, three vehicles were speeding in the direction of Vryheid. Initially, the witness mistook the roaring engines for motorcycles, but soon realised it was three cars driving dangerously close together at high speed. The second car suddenly slowed down, causing the third car to swerve to the right to avoid a collision. However, this resulted in the third car crashing head-on into an oncoming vehicle. A woman, an elderly man and a child were in the oncoming car. Tragically, the man and woman died on impact, while the child was rushed to hospital in critical condition. The driver and a passenger in the other car also died in the crash.
