CoCoon Consulting ‘walks the talk’ with their WalkAChild initiative
CoCoon Consulting donated 69 school shoes to Amajuba District learners through its #WalkAChild initiative, bringing warmth and hope.
CoCoon Consulting, specialists in Stakeholder Relations and Social Facilitation, has proven to be a key catalyst within the Faculty of Humanities, particularly in resolving conflict within infrastructure development.
Their expertise adds meaningful value throughout project life cycles, supporting sustainable infrastructure through strategic problem-solving and strong stakeholder engagement.
Known for reliability and a proactive approach, CoCoon works closely with diverse groups, including pressure groups, taxi associations, and traditional authorities. These efforts have promoted social cohesion and ensured seamless project execution.
Demonstrating its commitment to social upliftment, CoCoon launched WalkAChild with CoCoon—a grassroots initiative inspired by the needs of children in peripheral communities who lack proper school shoes. Launched in December 2024 via a simple WhatsApp flyer, the campaign aimed to collect 100 pairs of school shoes.
By March 2025, 69 pairs had been donated through vouchers, cash, and direct purchases.
Shoes were distributed in the Amajuba District to the following schools: Newcastle: 26 pairs to Siphesihle Primary, Dannhauser: 16 to Spookmill, 2 to Thathunyawo, 6 to Black Bank, and 10 to Green Oak
The sight of learners in torn shoes at the onset of winter strengthened CoCoon’s resolve. Though only three years old and salary-based, the organisation remains focused on lasting impact and is in the process of launching a foundation.
Managing Director, Hlengi Rhoda Mthembu, said, “This initiative was not sponsored by any organisation or political party. All glory belongs to God.”
A Spookmill principal summed up CoCoon best: Uhlanga Olukhethekileyo – A rare and chosen calibre.
