IFP encourages Grade 12 learners to work hard as early as possible

The top achievers in the first term received certificates.

The IFP Youth Brigade (IFPYB) has successfully launched its Grade 12 learner support programme in high schools around the Driefontein area. Led by IFPYB chairperson in the Indaka/Mnambithi cluster, Cllr Thomas Thabede, they recently visited Hlophe Secondary in Ward 24 and Magwababa High School in Ward 17.

According to Thabede, the aim is to acknowledge the top achievers in the first term, as well as encourage all the Grade 12 pupils to do better in their mid-term exams.

He said they started this programme because they felt there was a need to give support, not only in the final exams but throughout the year.

“This term’s results are very important because learners will be applying to tertiary institutions for next year. We also believe that, as leaders, we need to play a role throughout the year to support both the learners and the teachers. It has become the norm to celebrate good results at the end of the year. We are changing that, as we want to be part of the whole journey and help resolve any challenges along the way,” said Thabede. He added that the programme was well received and they will be visiting more schools in the near future.
