A truck crashed on the N3 near Ultra City at Estcourt today (August 5), resulting in temporary closure of the Durban-bound right lane while emergency services attended to the scene.

Ambulance services, the Fire Department, N3TC, police and towing services all responded promptly.

Firefighters had to use the jaws-of-life to rescue the driver, who was trapped inside the vehicle.

According to authorities at the scene, the truck was travelling on the Johannesburg-bound lane when it veered off course, crossed the Durban-bound lanes, and overturned off the road. Fortunately, no other vehicles were nearby at the time.

The firefighters were praised for their tremendous efforts; it took nearly an hour and a half to successfully free the driver from the wreckage. Thankfully, no fatalities or major injuries were reported.
