Revamped Driefontein road gets a big thumbs-up

The project was launched in June 2023 by former MEC for Transport Sipho Hlomuka.

The Transport Committee in the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Legislature is pleased with the work done on the P189 Driefontein road after it was revamped.

This follows an oversight visit by the committee today (September 16).

As part of the visit, led by chairperson Mncedisi Maphisa, the committee received reports from all stakeholders, including Department of Transport officials, Cllr Mthokozisi Khoza and Inkosi Nhloso Khumalo.

“We are very pleased with the condition of the road and the work that has been done. We also received a report stating that small businesses – including youth, women and people with disabilities – benefited as they should. As the Legislature, we welcome that,” said Maphisa.

He added that he’s keeping an eye on all projects that have been launched in this district. “We want all these projects to be completed in time, so we will be monitoring all ongoing projects,” he said.
