Grey Goose to host Cancervive walk to inspire hope

Grey Goose Game Lodge hosts a Cancervive walk this Sunday to raise cancer awareness, celebrate survivors, and unite the community in support.

The Grey Goose Game Lodge is inviting the community to lace up their walking shoes and take part in the Cancervive Cancer Awareness Walk this Sunday, 12 October, from 08:00.

This event is more than just a walk — it’s a morning of hope, unity and awareness.

Participants will walk together to celebrate life, honour those affected by cancer, and raise awareness about the importance of early detection and support.

The aim is to create awareness about cancer, celebrate life and share in the joy of being united for a cause that touches us all.

“Every step, every rand and every voice helps create awareness, support survivors and celebrate life. This is more than just a walk; it’s a community standing together,” the organisers said.

Tickets are to be purchased from quicket.co.za.

The entry fee will cost R120 (excluding Quicket cost) per person and includes the following:

  • A scenic fun walk through the lodge’s grounds.
  • An inspiring Edu-show and cancer awareness sharing
  • Goody bags for the first 200 participants
  • A delicious buffet breakfast
  • And a chance to walk in unity and show your support for those affected by cancer.

Registration starts at 07:00, with the walk starting at 08:00 sharp.

Who is Cancervive?

Cancervive is a South African Nonprofit Organisation (NPO) committed to creating impactful cancer awareness and educating communities about cancer as a disease.

They focus on rural and underserved areas of South Africa, where information about cancer is not readily available or accessible.

The organisation has a survivor-driven approach, aimed at dispelling myths, breaking social stigmas and providing information.

They encourage early cancer detection and prevention and maximising available support resources.

Through dynamic campaigns and compelling survivor stories, they aim to celebrate life, inspire hope, and empower communities to proactively engage in the fight against cancer.

Embracing resilience and instilling hope in the face of cancer, they empower individuals with a compelling message: “creating awareness to save lives.”

Their history:

Their journey began with a dynamic group of breast cancer survivors who were driven by the inspiration to spread hope.

They embarked on countrywide motorcycle journeys, symbolising their celebration of life to spread a message of hope.

From this spirited initiative, the dire need for cancer awareness and education became glaringly apparent, especially in the rural communities of South Africa.

Arising from this pressing need for cancer awareness, Cancervive was born in 2011.

As Cancervive became an independent NPO in March 2022, the organisation has remained unwavering in its commitment to advancing cancer awareness and education, leaving a positive impact on communities across South Africa.

Today, Cancervive continues to carry the torch, actively contributing to the well-being of our communities and ensuring that vital information reaches even the most outlying and underserved areas.
